Dubai, UAE: Maki & Ramen is ditching the standard sit down dinner this month for something much louder. Founded by Chef Teddy Lee, the brand is known for its heavy ramen bowls and fresh sushi, but this April, they are turning the table into a game board. If you are tired of the usual dining routine, these two new challenges offer a bit of healthy competition and a chance to walk away with a free meal.
A Game of Strategy and Wasabi
Starting 10 April, you can take on the Sushi Battleship. It is exactly what it sounds like, a 3x6 battleground at your table where two people go head to head calling out coordinates. For AED 180, you get 16 pieces of sushi, but keep an eye out for the "wasabi bombs." These are nigiri hidden on the board with an extra kick of spice to catch you off guard. A game master stays at the table to keep score. If you post your battle on social media and tag the restaurant, they will throw in a free bowl of ramen for the table.
The Firecracker Ramen: Can You Handle Level 8?
For those who actually like their food to bite back, the Firecracker Ramen Level 8 challenge is now live to mark International Ramen Day. For AED 88, you get a bowl of their spiciest ramen yet and a glass of milk. The rules are simple but tough:
The Sprint: Finish the ramen and the soup in under five minutes. If you do, it is free.
The Endurance: After the timer stops, you have to wait three more minutes without touching the milk.
The Reward: Winners get a spot on the Wall of Fame. The fastest eater of the month wins an all you can eat voucher.
